Helping others is an emotional high that lasts long after the giving is done, especially when your efforts benefit rescued pets! This past Christmas I really enjoyed gathering donations for the Owl House cat foster home (my Leash Lady’s foster!) and the Schuyler County Humane Society as part of a global #MyDifference4Animals Giveathon with other pet businesses in the international pet community. The Leash Lady put a a call out on social media, and we got all sorts of gifts delivered to us via Amazon, or straight to our porch. You all really showed how much you cared! Here’s exactly how so many of you helped us bring real holiday joy to locally rescued animals.
4 ways we made a difference for animals, together!
- You liked and shared our social media posts. Never underestimate the power of a simple “like!” Every comment, like or share added power to the posts on Wondering Cat and The Owl House Foster Spot Facebook pages, and every interaction helped bring our donation appeal to brand new eyes.
- You told your friends! By talking about our giving campaign with your friends, family and coworkers, you helped create new supporters for the Humane Society of Schuyler County.
- You helped us celebrate at our Whiskers in Winter party in January! Twenty five of you added a world of warmth by coming out for to my Leash Lady’s house to enjoy a belated celebration of the season. Yup, we left our Christmas decorations up that long!
- Here’s my biggest “thank you” of all. You donated! Our wish list included cat food and toys for the Owl House and HSSC. We had a big pile under our Christmas tree to share between the two, and took a carful over to HSSC during their Santa photo event just before Christmas. I got my picture taken, too! I really hope our super-successful holiday Giveathon encourages people to continue to give to their favorite animal effort all year long.
Giving back is a vital part of the pet business community
It was an awesome experience to launch our donation campaign alongside approximately 17 other generous pet businesses in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia. With all of us working together and appealing to our clients and community, we were able to magnify our giving to benefit 22 animals rescues, shelters, and pet food pantries on three continents and across two oceans. We can’t wait until next year to do it all again!
